London Youth Event Attracts Big Entry

MORE than 70 youngsters from eight different youth clubs across London took part in a handball tournament at Leyton SCORE Centre last week.

The event proved a big success, and marked the end of a five-week handball coaching programme which saw a big improvement in the standard of play.

A mixture of newcomers and more experienced handball athletes played well together in the event, including teams from The Winchester Project, Streatham Youth and Community Trust, Stewarts Road Adventure Playground, Fitzrovia Youth in Action, St Martins, Kickstart, Salmon Youth Centre and Leyton Orient.

John Jones, Sport Development Officer at London Youth, said: “This tournament was a huge success with over 70 young people competing from eight youth clubs, many playing the game for the first time. We look forward to continuing the partnership with England Handball and building up the sports profile at a grassroots level.”
